3rd Annual Auto-ISAC Cybersecurity Summit!
The Auto-ISAC Annual Cybersecurity Summit is a world-class, forward-looking conference about the connected vehicle ecosystem: cybersecurity, privacy, and regulations. The content is created to engage membership, foster information sharing, and demonstrate the value of collaboration within the Auto-ISAC community.
The automotive industry is transforming by creating autonomous, connected, electric, and shared vehicle concepts. The roles of cybersecurity, privacy, and information sharing are critical to this cyber-physical evolution.
We are “always connected” through technical innovation and various avenues of communication. This conference will explore these concepts as it relates to “In the Vehicle”, “The Vehicle Ecosystem”, “The Processes & Standards”, and “The Organizations & Education” in a global context.
“The Auto-ISAC Summit provides a unique experience to learn about automotive cybersecurity information sharing, collaboration, and organization. The Summit fills a gap among automotive cybersecurity workshops and ideally complements more technical workshops such as escar.”

Themes Explored in 2019
In Vehicle
This section takes a dive into how the connectivity with each generation of vehicle increases, therefore, needing to ensure that in-vehicle cybersecurity is robust.
Between wireless network capabilities, USB ports, key fobs, OBD 2 ports, intra-vehicle network and ECU, it is a large task to secure vehicle integrity to ensure overall safety.
We will examine new technology such as 5G implications, biometrics, and artificial intelligence which can all be used to secure vehicles. From penetration testing to vehicle security standards, the industry needs to stay on their toes to keep up with the growing need to secure vehicles.
Vehicle Ecosystem
A connected vehicle builds an ecosystem of networks between the vehicle, its passengers, and the world around them. It is essential that vehicle manufacturers focus on simultaneously developing and protecting this delicate ecosystem – including cybersecurity protections from design to production as well as privacy by design.
This section examines this double-edged sword created by the benefits of a connected vehicle versus the ever-growing attack surface that it creates . Benefits include ELD (Electronic Logging Device) for commercial vehicles, data insights into urban planning, passenger/pedestrian safety, smart and autonomous cities, and the improvement of the average commuter’s experience. Drawbacks include the increased risks of a potential cyber attack can pose, putting privacy at risk.
Processes and Standards
Autonomous, Connected, Electric, and Shared concepts are transforming the automobile industry, resulting in a significant number of new standards being developed and an impact on internal processes.
We will explore topics such as vehicle integrity in a right to repair world, cybersecurity and privacy in the US and globally, an overview of the various standards being developed at the global, federal, and state level, working with law enforcement and regulators with new data models in automotive, supply chain, tools and techniques to support change.
Organizations and Education
The necessity for great collaboration across historically siloed teams, and increased education and awareness within our companies and with our customers will be discussed in this section.
We will explore concepts such as the role of enterprise IT in the connected vehicle space, Virtual Security Operations Center leading practices, global information sharing, industry context beyond automobiles the overlap of safety, cyber, and privacy, product vs enterprise cyber, and threat intelligence.
